Center Examples of Imbalanced Choreography of Energy

Do you recognize what happens when we are out of balance with our sexual life force energy?

In the Sweet Medicine SunDance path, the Balanced Choreography of Energy is a wheel and movement around the circle of directions that help remind us what we naturally need to do be in balance and harmony with all aspects of ourselves.

We’ve shared past posts about what it means to be in balance each of the five directions around a wheel.

If we could master this balanced choreography: giving with the emotions, holding with the physical body, receiving with the mind, determining with spirit and catalyzing with open, heart-to-heart sexual communication, we would be walking around this planet in balance and harmony with all things.

But as we all know, imbalance often occurs. Fatigue and pain are created when these directions and energetic expressions are interchanged.

Sexual life force energy sits in the center of the wheel and is called chi/ki/prana in other traditions. As human beings, we often equate sexual life force energy with the act of sex itself, but it is, in fact, the creative, life-giving essence and energy that runs through all living beings in our universe.

I'm not okay image

Let’s look at some common examples of imbalance with the center and sexual life force energy.

When people give with their sexual life force energy instead of catalyze, they give everything of his/her essence and, hence, rapidly deplete oneself. Therefore, a sudden life force loss is experienced in absence of another dysfunctional issue. Think of a gas tank that suddenly has a hole in it. One small hole can cause all the gas that otherwise would have catalyzed the engine to be partially or completely on the ground instead of the engine.

When people hold and transform with their sexual life force energy, the tendency is to go to sex as escape and fixation. Hence, sex addictions appear as dysfunctional patterns.

When people receive with their sexual life force energy, boundaries are lost and/or non-existent. There is a loss of personal identity and not being awake and conscious to one’s own energy. Codependence is often experienced as a result.

When people determine with their sexual life force energy, they lose touch with reality, and what is within sacred law. This can manifest subtly as illusion or as complete delusional thinking and behavior. The extreme of this are psychopaths, manipulators and engaging in criminal activity in order to force their own will.

Do you know what happens when you’re out of balance with spirit?

Let’s look at some examples of imbalanced choreography of energy in the East with spirit.

When a person gives with spirit, they become asleep to reality as it is. Their illusion may be that “all is beautiful” despite what reality is saying about the situation. They are giving with this illusion of spirit and lack the foresight, backbone and physical development to deal with the reality of the world as it is.

If a person is holding with their spirit, they get caught in no hope. They cannot let their spirit fly free to give the vision necessary for hope springs eternal.

If a person is receiving with their spirit, there is no actualization. You take in the vision, but you don’t do anything with it. This can be seen in the recluse or hermit who has no vision or purpose.

If you catalyze with the spirit, you spin your cosmic wheels and create burnout. Some of our greatest imbalance and pain is created here by our family, peers, and religious teachers whom we mind to try to please. They attempt to minimize or shut down our sexual life force energy.

How does improper choreography of the mind create imbalance?

In the Sweet Medicine SunDance path, the Balanced Choreography of Energy is a wheel and movement around the circle of directions that help remind us what we naturally need to do be in balance and harmony with all aspects of ourselves.

We’ve shared past posts about what it means to be in balance each of the five directions around a wheel.

But as we all know, imbalance often occurs. Fatigue and pain are created when these directions and energetic expressions are interchanged.

Let’s look at some common examples of imbalance with the mind.

My mind is killing me image

If you hold with the mind, and you get stuck in belief systems and one point of view, you develop tunnel vision often causing a person to be judgmental and prejudiced.

If you give with the mind, you have no grasp of how reality really is. Instead, you are constantly dealing with the way it “should be or ought to be.” Instead of receiving the data that would give you valid reality, you create illusions in your head and regard those out as “truth.” If you give with your mind, it produces victim syndrome…one who is oblivious to the reality in your environment.

Determining with the mind often leads to depression because that person is always despairing and disappointed that things are never as they should be.

A person who catalyzes with the mind becomes a lord or queen tyrant…in other words a dictator. This is often in combination with determining with emotions. This person, when taken to extremes, will say “THIS is the way it is … you will obey or else.” The result can produce an overly-regimented discipline with the physical body, such as the fitness fanatic who sees the perfect body and regime as the end all, be all.

Let’s look at some common examples of imbalance with the physical body.

I'm fine image

What happens if our electrical cord doesn’t get enough current through it? The fan will not turn. The same is true in the physical body. If we are not holding transforming the energy, the body will not work efficiently.

A person who gives with the physical body tends to substitute working, physical records, and money with loving, hugging, holding, and physical closeness or intimacy. They expect their body to produce their reality. Often these people show symptoms of workaholism and are totally dedicated to their career.

If you receive with the body, this can manifest as physical abuse. In addition, since all energy is incoming, you become lethargic and have no energy to put out. This is the couch potato syndrome.

If you determine with your body, you will have a tendency to be a bully. We have this in many forms, from the bully to the Olympic athlete’s total focus on physical structure and control of the body. These are often overachievers.

If you catalyze with the body, you can die. This is the person who continuously moves from one disease to another. To catalyze with the body means you need this physical crisis to such an extent that without it, nothing else will function.

Let’s look at some common examples of imbalance.

Emotional imbalance may take the following forms…

If you hold with your emotions, you are always at the effect of your emotions. Your emotions begin to wall or dam up, so that when someone speaks to you in the “wrong way” you take it personally, whether they meant it or not. This imbalance is caused by not giving with the emotions.

A person who is receiving with the emotions will have a tendency to create imbalances such as obesity, addictions around food and water, alcoholism, cardiovascular problems, etc. Another example of receiving with the emotions is being an energy vampire. You pull energy from others to yourself, demanding the other “make it right” or “better.”

What if you are determining with your emotions? Here you become the brat or tyrant. You demand attention to your emotionalism…you “get even.” You may even make decisions and set priorities out of your emotional reactions as opposed to taking action as pure motion, based on your spiritual determination.

If you catalyze with your emotions, you can develop a fanatical personality. This energy and balance can also create suicidal tendencies. When the emotions are doing anything but giving, pain and fatigue are the result, eventually causing disease and illness in the body. This is true all the way around the wheel with any imbalance of choreography.

Balanced Choreography of Energy: Catalyzing with Sexual Soul Force

The Balanced Choreography of Energy wheel describes the most balanced way to use energy. Why do we as humans want to be balance? Think about the ways we experience stress, pain, fatigue, anxiety, worry in our bodies, our minds, our emotions and within our spirit on a daily basis. We know when we don’t flow, and we inherently know when there is something off. We are walking out of balance and, therefore, can’t determine how to best choreograph the dance that is our life.

In the Sweet Medicine SunDance path, the Balanced Choreography of Energy is a wheel and movement around the circle of directions that help remind us what we naturally need to do be in balance and harmony with all aspects of ourselves.

If we could master this balanced choreography giving with the emotions, holding with the physical body, receiving with the mind, determining with spirit and open, catalyzing with heart-to-heart sexual communication, we would be walking around this planet in balance and harmony with all things.

In the Center is our sexual life force energy. In other traditions, this is the chi, ki, prana that is the very essence, the catalyst and active ingredient that creates life and is both within and all around us.

When we catalyze with our sexual life force energy (chi, ki, prana) through open, heart-to-heart communication with ourselves, life and others, our hearts become open to both speaking our truth and hearing others’ truth as two-way, balanced communication. Therefore, our perspectives open wider from the infinite possibilities of the void, and we can surrender to creating greater and greater natural beauty and balance in our lives as expressed through our own unique soul.
