Human World: The Metis

Human-metis

In the Center, we catalyze with our sexual soul force through open heart to heart communication.  Our open hearted sexual communication is what gives us our identity as a human being. This comes through our soul, our life force energy.

The metis, the rainbow humans of mixed blood, sit in the Center of the Human World wheel.  These are the ones who bring us the gathering-together circle of the teachings and the opportunity to exercise the unique gifts of all the great races and powers.  When we come into physical form as metis, we integrate the opportunities of the combination of racial attributes we have inherited.  Ultimately, on a spiritual level, we are all metis.

In the East, we determine with the spirit through passion and lust. The words passion and lust are bound to create controversy. Think of it this way. You have not had an apple in a long time, and you may never have an apple again. As you eat this apple, you totally focus your attention on it. With all your senses, you taste the juice of it; you are aware of the texture and smell of it.  You savor every morsel of it as if it were the only thing going in town. This is eating an apple with passion and lust. So, in our lives, with everything we do, whether it is cleaning the floor, writing a paper, or making love, we should do it with the spirit of passion and lust, as if it were the last moment of life. Savor each moment by determining with your intent and focus from your spirit.

We incarnate into this race to learn the power of fire in the East in order to embrace spirit and gains moments of illumination.

In the North, we receive with the mind through clarity and caring. Our mind is an open cup, ready to receive from many viewing points and perspectives. When we are open only to one viewing point, we can get tunnel vision. The more ideas and concepts we can receive with our minds, the greater will be our capacity to see many different perspectives and therefore, gain more clarity.

We incarnate into this race with the opportunity to learn to receive like the wind in the North, to develop multiple perceptions, and to use one of the greatest gifts of humanity – an open and imaginative mind.

In the West, we hold with the physical body with intimacy. Now, this does not mean to hold as in hold on tight.  It is holding in the sense of transforming energy through stabilization and for utilization.  Think of it as an electrical cord. The body is the structure through which electrical energy moves like a conduit, and provides the transformed energy to turn a fan, or work a toaster, or move the body parts.

We incarnate into this race with the opportunity to integrate the attributes of the West – learning ow to hold and transform energy within our body, to develop mastery, and to experience our body as he sacred temple it truly is.

Human World: Red/Brown Humans

South energies teach us how to give with our emotions with tenderness, which is a means of “energy motion” or “E-motion.” Emotions are meant to be expressed, to flow freely. In other words, if we are angry we give our anger; when we are happy we give happiness; when we are sad, we cry and give with sadness. Our emotions are a part of our beauty which we have to give away. As long as we are giving our emotions with tenderness our emotions are true, clear and clean expressions of what is happening with us. We are in balance.

As an incarnation in this race, we have the opportunity to align with the energies of the South – learning how to flow with the waters and be as the plants to give of our self in life and in nature.  We learn to align with the heart and fluidity of emotions and our heart connection with Nature.

Human World

diversity

Humans are the fourth-born children of Grandmother Earth and sit in the east.  Again, we are two-legged animals in the Center of the receiving world of the animals, but we can evolve and become balanced human beings as determiners, taking responsibility for our place in the web of life.  Human beings are determiners, or directors, because we have choice and free will; we can destroy or nurture our environment.

This wheel tends to create controversy because it distinguishes between red, black, white, yellow, and mixed races, called metis.  Furthermore, in these modern times, unique cultural and racial distinctions are blurring as technology shrinks the globe, and the world community continues to become more homogenous.  This Human World Wheel teaches the traits and gifts of humans as determiners of energy and honors the unique beauty of the gifts and give-away of each race of people that the soul seeks in its evolution and chooses as part of the mold for our spirit personalities.

The Twisted Hairs Elders say that each of us is a spiritual metis, as we have reincarnated into each race many times.  (They say that since each spirit personality, guided by the cycles within Sacred Law, reincarnates a minimum of 144 times to evolve to the point of resurrection and enlightenment, our spirit personality has incarnated into each race a minimum of thirty-six times.)  Furthermore, we all have red blood, black pupils, white bones, and yellow marrow in our bones (colors of the four directions of the Medicine Wheel), and we carry the gifts and give-aways of each of the colors within our cellular memory.  All we need to do is access that memory to realize we are metis; we are all brothers and sisters in the larger family.

Among all the creatures, it is only the humans who were created with free will, an agency of choice and self-determination. It is also only the humans who have the genitalia for experiencing full body orgasm at will. These two features distinguish us from the other Worlds. We determine our own reality and with this comes authority, responsibility, and power. It is our choice whether we exercise these in beauty and re-creation or in pain and destruction.

How the Worlds Teach Humans to be Balanced

balance rocks near stream

Last week, we learned that we possess a direct connection to the other four worlds of Grandmother Earth.  We contain minerals in our body; we are animal in that we are two-leggeds; we are the water and nutrients of the plant carried in our blood; and we come from pure spirit at birth and return to pure spirit at death.

Each world teaches us how to be balanced humans, or how to balance our choreography, which consists of all the choices, decisions, and priorities we make and create in our life.  The mineral world teaches us how to hold and transform; the plant world exemplifies how to give; how to receive is knowledge from the animal world; the human world, in alignment with Great Spirit, are the determiners of Grandmother; and the Spirit World shows us how to catalyze our life.

These five actions also correspond to an aspect within us.  The mineral world and its ability to hold and transform corresponds to our physical body; the plant world to our emotions; the animal world to our mental aspect; human world to our spirit; and the spirit world to our sexual aspect.

Over the next few weeks, we will explore each of these five worlds and human aspects to explore how the Worlds of Grandmother earth teach us, if we are open to it.

Learning to Listen

listening

The key to developing a greater facility to communicate is to listen, to hear what other worlds are telling us and awaken them inside ourselves.  We possess a direct connection to the other four worlds of Grandmother Earth.  We contain minerals in our body; we are animal in that we are two-leggeds; we are the water and nutrients of the plant carried in our blood; and we come from pure spirit at birth and return to pure spirit at death.

People just haven’t learned how to listen.  We usually speak and listen from our brains, filtering everything from a chorus of our pretender voices and brain chatter.  Furthermore, language – words – as our primary means of communication limits our experiences and separates us, thus contributing to the chatter that prevents us from hearing.

We are like walking radios tuned into only one station.  We must get rid of the static and develop a wide band of receiving and broadcasting stations that are an intrinsic part of our natural self.  To do that we need to know more about the nature of each of the worlds, their essence or give-away, and their role in the matrix of life here on Grandmother Earth.

For the next few weeks, we will be looking at what it means to be a balanced human and how each of the five aspects within each world of Grandmother Earth assists us in attaining this balance so we can become sacred humans.  Stay tuned, like or follow or blog or Facebook page so you don’t miss any one aspect.

Children of Grandmother Earth, The Human World

circle_1280Each of the worlds have a wheel of their own.  Each of the directions dance with the Human World in different ways.

In the South are the red humans.  These are the peoples who are most closely aligned with the heart, the fluidity of emotions. They teach us the way of one-heartedness, having a heart connection to all forms of Life in a beauty way. It is to these sisters and brothers that we owe these Sweet Medicine SunDance teachings.

In the West are the black humans. These brothers and sisters teach us about physical mastery and power, the body’s agility, rhythm, strength, and endurance.

In the North are the white humans, the people of the mind, of modern technology who have greatly advanced the evolution of civilization. However, they have significantly forgotten to do so in balance and harmony.

In the East are the yellow humans. These sisters and brothers teach us about the spirit.

In the Center are the Métis rainbow humans. These are all those who realize that no matter what color the skin, no matter what race or cultural heritage, we all have red blood, black pupils in our eyes, white bones, and yellow marrow in our bones. They teach us the ways of the Five Huaquas: health, happiness, humor, hope, and harmony. These are the gifts of being truly human. In order for us as humans to achieve these qualities of human-ness

We must:

  • GIVE WITH TENDERNESS – having as our intent to gather together in our heart space
  • HOLD & TRANSFORM WITH INTIMACY – by caring for one another in our physical bodies
  • RECEIVE WITH CARING – by teaching one another within respect and honor
  • DETERMINE WITH PASSION AND LUST – by sharing with one another our fire, our inspiration
  • CATALYZE WITH OPEN HEART-TO-HEART COMMUNICATION – by being intimate with one another

Remember we said wherever you have four, you also have five. So with the four Worlds is the fifth World: In the center of all Worlds is the World of Spirit, the catalyzer of all energy.

All forms of life have “spirit” (manitou): they have life force energy, which we call the catalyst, pulsing through their form.

Children of Grandmother Earth

In the totality of Grandmother Earth there are four categories or Worldsas we call them. They correspond to the four directions. In our tradition, we often speak of these worlds as “children” or “people.” Though different in nature from humans, we relate to them with equal respect and honor.  As varying forms of life, we are all children of Grandmother Earth, all manifestations of the creation of all substance form. Each of the Worlds carries and manifests energy within its own unique expression.

apple-tree_1280The Plant World sits in the south and are the Givers of Energy.  the Plants as the givers of energy. What it means for the plants to be givers is that their gift, their essence of being-ness as a plant is to give. They give nourishment, shelter, beauty, inspiration and most importantly through the photosynthesis, the oxygen we breath, our breath of life. Plants teach unconditional giving. You don’t find a plant trying to decide who it will give air to today according to its likes or dislikes.  Through its being-ness, it simply gives.

coal_1280In the West is the Mineral World, who are the Holders of energy. The saying goes, that “within one grain of sand lies the entire Universe.” It is from the Mineral World that plants are born, so we might say that what is “held” is the potential for life. The Mineral World teaches us that substance is primarily a container, a vessel for spirit. The Mineral World is thus like our physical body.

meerkat_1280Sitting in the North are the Animals as the receivers of energy.  Their gift is teaching us how to receive. Knowing how animals are receivers is probably most easily understood by those of you who have pets. You will recall the times when you were sick or just “blue” and your pet came to curl up beside you and “made you feel better.” Animals will take on the energy of their human companion. Often people will say the pet looks like or acts like their caretaker.

The fourth World consists of Humans as the determiners of energy.
