Warrior Wednesday – Speed and Self-Growth

superhero-534120_1280

In each direction of the Warrior Attributes wheel, there are two attributes.  The first attribute carries the feminine energy and the second carries the masculine energy.  In each pair, you must have the feminine aspect mastered before you can step into and embody the masculine aspect.

In the East, the Warrior’s Attributes are Speed and Self-Growth. Speed refers to our way of learning. Do you learn slowly and with caution, at medium speed with full purpose and meaning, or fast, making changes on a regular basis? Self-growth is the determination of our spirit to actualize more of our potential, more of who we are truly meant to be. By continually developing and growing, you will gain whatever speed is necessary to move along your path with heart. How fast are you acquiring the five huaquas of health, hope, harmony, happiness and humor?

Warrior Wednesday – Power and Strength

In each direction of the Warrior Attributes wheel, there are two attributes.  The first attribute carries the feminine energy and the second carries the masculine energy.  In each pair, you must have the feminine aspect mastered before you can step into and embody the masculine aspect.

The Warrior’s Attributes in the West are Power and Strength. Power is your ability to will something when you don’t have strength. Through the use of your will, you can access and utilize all of your resources. Strength is how much physical force you can demonstrate when lifting, running, or performing any exercises without experiencing a loss of orende (chi, ki, Prana, life force energy). It is the endurance factor of expended energy over time. Power and strength together create consistency and continuity in being at cause. The ability to choose the physical activities you want means you have good health.

Children of Grandmother Earth, The Human World

circle_1280Each of the worlds have a wheel of their own.  Each of the directions dance with the Human World in different ways.

In the South are the red humans.  These are the peoples who are most closely aligned with the heart, the fluidity of emotions. They teach us the way of one-heartedness, having a heart connection to all forms of Life in a beauty way. It is to these sisters and brothers that we owe these Sweet Medicine SunDance teachings.

In the West are the black humans. These brothers and sisters teach us about physical mastery and power, the body’s agility, rhythm, strength, and endurance.

In the North are the white humans, the people of the mind, of modern technology who have greatly advanced the evolution of civilization. However, they have significantly forgotten to do so in balance and harmony.

In the East are the yellow humans. These sisters and brothers teach us about the spirit.

In the Center are the Métis rainbow humans. These are all those who realize that no matter what color the skin, no matter what race or cultural heritage, we all have red blood, black pupils in our eyes, white bones, and yellow marrow in our bones. They teach us the ways of the Five Huaquas: health, happiness, humor, hope, and harmony. These are the gifts of being truly human. In order for us as humans to achieve these qualities of human-ness

We must:

  • GIVE WITH TENDERNESS – having as our intent to gather together in our heart space
  • HOLD & TRANSFORM WITH INTIMACY – by caring for one another in our physical bodies
  • RECEIVE WITH CARING – by teaching one another within respect and honor
  • DETERMINE WITH PASSION AND LUST – by sharing with one another our fire, our inspiration
  • CATALYZE WITH OPEN HEART-TO-HEART COMMUNICATION – by being intimate with one another

Remember we said wherever you have four, you also have five. So with the four Worlds is the fifth World: In the center of all Worlds is the World of Spirit, the catalyzer of all energy.

All forms of life have “spirit” (manitou): they have life force energy, which we call the catalyst, pulsing through their form.

True Knowledge is Self-Knowledge

Screen Shot 2016-08-29 at 10.33.49 PMFor many ancient peoples, hair symbolizes knowledge. “Twisted Hairs” refers to those who take knowledge from all sources and weave it together to formulate what is true and valid for themselves. True knowledge is self-knowledge, tested, felt and integrated into a way of life that always leads to a change in one’s behavior and an effectual change in one’s substance health.

Thousands of years ago, as now, medicine women and men, shamans, magicians and sorcerers from varying tribes traveled beyond their tribal boundaries to seek knowledge from every direction of the Wheel of Life. In Turtle Island (North, South and Central America, originally including what is now Australia and New Zealand), these men and women of knowledge began to meet each other.

Screen Shot 2016-08-29 at 10.43.34 PMAs early as 1250 B.C., medicine men and women gathered together to form a Secret Society or Magickal Lodge called the Rattlesnake School. In 1224 A.D., they met with other shamans, sorcerers, magicians and wizards of the Eight Great Powers. Then in 1250 A.D., the Twisted Hairs of Turtle Island formed a Metis Medicine Societies Council of Elders. “Metis” refers to the fact that they represented many and varied tribes. They were, therefore, “of mixed blood”.  A unanimous agreement for membership to the Metis Medicine Societies Council of Elders and a Circle of Law was established to facilitate the sharing of their combined knowledge with anyone whose primary reason for choosing a physical body was to become enlightened.  Membership to the Metis Medicine Societies Council of Elders was open to those who accepted the Sacred Laws of the Universe and sought to become a Sacred Human who touched self, life and others with Beauty.

Pay It Forward – A Nia Jam!

Image

Razel gets her groove on!

Today the Rainbow Power Center was jamming with music, dancing, laughter, health, and abundance as 22 women gathered to dance in support of the recovery of those with spinal cord injuries.  The event raised hundreds of dollars for The Lone Star Paralysis Foundation and was sponsored by Arizona Nia Teachers (including Razel Wolf who is also a SMSD teacher) and AZNiaNow.  A portion of these funds will benefit Daniel Curtis, the son of a Nia Trainer, who sustained a spinal cord injury in May of 2011.

From the Nia website:  “Nia is the original body-mind fusion fitness program – blending inspiration from dance arts, martial arts and healing arts to create a fun, pleasurable, health-enhancing practice for people of all ages and levels of fitness and helping us reconnect to the Joy of Movement!”

Flexibility, agility, mobility, strength, and stability. Joy, laughter, and the power of individual expression. Aerobics, stretching, coordination, technique, beauty.  Nia includes it all, and teachers and classes can be found worldwide.

We were blessed to have such power and giveaway fill our space today, calling us all into the dance!

Healing in the Sweet Medicine SunDance Way

When someone talks about “healing,” what do you think of?  Recovering from a cold? Curing disease? Getting better after surgery?

In the Sweet Medicine SunDance Path healing paradigm, the healed, or healthy, person is not just someone whose body is free from disease. True health encompasses our emotions, mind, spirit, and sexuality as well as our body. When we speak of healing, we mean coming into balance in all our aspects as well as with the natural world, into alignment with Sacred Law, and into alignment with one’s true self.

The Sweet Medicine Sundance Path healing paradigm is a shamanic way of approaching healing.  However, it is not a “traditional” way: it incorporates knowledge from several shamanic paths as well as western science.  It is a multifaceted approach to healing that addresses all aspects of us as humans: emotional, mental, spiritual, and sexual/soul force as well as the physical.

Some of the basic premises in this healing paradigm are:

  • Each of us heals himself or herself – no one else can do it for us. This requires taking responsibility for our own healing (and our own lives!).
  • We heal through proper balance and alignment.
  • Disease and illness are teachers that we call in to learn some particular thing.  Understanding this, and where we are in our pattern of learning, is critical to our healing.
  • Healing can take other forms than the return of the physical body to health.

Our path offers a variety of techniques and ceremonies for those who desire healing.  Training in our healing paradigm is part of years 3 and 4 of the Red Lodge Longhouse program.  Both are available in a variety of locations around the world.

Visit the DTMMS web site for more information about our healing paradigm, or contact the DTMMS office or the Phoenix healing team.
