Animal Medicine Monday – Turtle

painted-turtle_1280
Turtle, the clan animal of the West, is the sigil of Grandmother Earth and teaches the sacredness of the Earth Lodge (including our bodies).  The turtle is the protector of the lodges of women, keeping both our home and womb sacred.  This clan animal is the keeper of the teachings of shields and carrier of teachings of humanity.  The turtle also brings alignment with the mineral world, especially that of the crystals.

Seven Arrows

quiver_1280When something happens, we choose our response. This choice becomes our action and colors our perception of what continues to happen.  We are the Bow. The Quiver of Arrows is our resource circle of choice in self-expression. The Target is ourselves, life and others. What arrows we shoot is determined by our attitude and approach to life.   We are both “she/he who will not see” (our Shideh or lower Self) and “she/he who is learning or has learned to see” (Hokkshideh or Higher Self). Which one is operating as we reach into the Quiver?

The Quiver is formed by our molding, sculpting and armoring. Simply put, this means that our resource circle is only as full and accessible as our life experience and process of self-development have made possible to date.  The Quiver contains three sets of seven Arrows: seven Dark Arrows colored by pain and reaction; seven Light Arrows colored by pleasure and responsibility; seven Rainbow Arrows which are the gifts of transformation and beauty. The latter are magickal arrows in that they are gifts to us from the Universe when we choose from the place of “learning to see”.

You will find more information about the “Teachings of the Seven Arrows” in Shamanic Wheels and Keys.

Warrior Wednesday – Relaxation and Focus

leopard_1280  amur_1280

In each direction of the Warrior Attributes wheel, there are two attributes.  The first attribute carries the feminine energy and the second carries the masculine energy.  In each pair, you must have the feminine aspect mastered before you can step into and embody the masculine aspect.

The Warrior’s Attributes are Relaxation and Focus in the Northeast. If you have your priorities, decisions, and choices in alignment, then you just relax and take care of business. The key to all proper choreography is to relax. When you relax, you can access the beauty of your design. Focus is where you place your attention. If you are under stress, it is very difficult to focus. Focus your energy with commitment, discipline, and follow-through.

Twenty Count Tuesday – Sacred Grandmother Planets

There are many Songs in many Dances in many lives. Yet we had thought there was but one Song. That was our feeling of separation! We turn to the West so that we might hear the Song of the Looking within Circle Chant that is coming from the twelfth Power, the Grandmother Planets.  There are also many Songs and Dances coming from this Power. All of these speak of many lives, of all our brothers and sisters, throughout all the planets and worlds of this Universe.  There are, in fact, many Great Orchestras. They are singing to us the Grandmother Songs of the Power of Woman. Especially, they sing the special Song of Everything is Born of Woman.  We begin to spin and dance with this Beauty.

Sacred Grandmother Planets are the twelve planets with human life.

Animal Medicine Monday – Snow Goose

Snow Goose is the Sweet Medicine animal totem within SunBear’s Earth Astrology that corresponds to the sun sign of Capricorn.

The Snow Goose is the Bringer and Keeper of the earthly, personal and tonal dream, meaning how we live our every day life. Do we have a roof over our head, food in the pantry, gas in the car?  Are our bills paid?  Are our bodies healthy?  They are also the Keeper of mirrors and the masks of self, our Book of Life.  Who do we know ourselves to be?  How do people, events, and relationships mirror our self-concept? Are we aware of when we wear a mask to fit in, conform or belong or as an act of controlled folly?  Snow Goose helps us to translate the screenplay our Higher Self wrote it in our Book of Life, bringing clarity to our awake dreaming.

You might recognize some of Snow Geese’s traits that you relate to… They don’t like to travel without the company of another couple dozen geese and can form flocks of several hundred thousand. Snow Geese stay with the same mate for life. During spring migration, large flocks of snow geese fly very high along narrow corridors, more than 3,000 mi.
